Vaccinate your kids:

The unvaccinated 7-year-old boy, who had rash onset 12 days after returning to the United States, infected at least 11 additional children ranging in age from 10 months to 9 years. Four were infected in the pediatrician's office that the child had visited the day before he was taken to a hospital emergency department for high fever and generalized rash. Another two cases were the boy's siblings, while five attended his school.

Pediatric News (link) reports that a measles outbreak in San Diego was caused by a single un-vaccinated child returning from international travel.

(quote goes here)

The negligent parents do not appear to be available for comment, and have not yet responded to requests to comment from The Evil Line.

Vaccinate your kids!

Traveling is a privilege not a right. Well at least to another country and coming back. At a minimum anyone who brings back an infectious disiese due to neglect and yes this was neglect should have their passport suspended. Of course you could make the case they shouldn't be allowed to come back into the country as well. There's no good answer but our government needs to stop granting so many exemptions for both the sake of children and others who they may infect.

One of the reasons that parents choose not to vaccinate their kids is the fear of autism. Some parents claim that their child developed autism after receiving the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine.

But this is stupid. The CDC and others have looked into this: "the Institute of Medicine pointed to five large studies finding no link between autism and the preservative thimerosal [a preservative], which contains mercury, and 14 large studies finding no link between the MMR vaccine and autism."

Rather, this is merely a coincidence: "About 20 percent of children with autism will regress between their first and second birthday."

This is the price we pay to live in a free society, because when the new vaccine with horrible side effects does come along I don't want to be legally required to have in injected in my ass. The best we can hope for is that in a few hundred years the people who don't get vaccinations will have died off of strange diseases no one should be getting anymore.
